This TV exceeds my expectations in every way. I made the purchase based on reviews, both professional and the ones posted here on Amazon.com. After 100 hours of viewing over the last few weeks the picture still stops me in my tracks! HD is stunning and SD content looks pretty good as well (Ammazing for a 50"). The speakers do not sound very robust compared to my big Sony CRT (Exceptional sound for a TV) but I always listen through my AV setup anyway. One last thing...the set looks beautiful even when turned off. Very well designed!
The Free White Glove delivery went great. The TV arrived on time and in perfect condition. In closing, I highly recommend this set!

Great performing TV! Setup was a breeze--although despite how thin it is, it is pretty heavy. Delivery was prompt and efficient. I wish it had picture in picture, but the HD picture itself is phenom!

I have wanted a flat screen since they first came out and it was about 400 dollars an inch for anything over 19 inches. I took the plunge and ordered this set in August 08. I can say nothing but good things about the screen and features thus far, the picture and settings are just awesome. It is very hard to go to any of my families houses and watch their televisions.

We purchased a Panasonic 50" plasma from Amazon. The transaction was simple and straight forward and the delivery came on time. We researched the set on line and at stores and found Amazon very competitive in price and they lived up to their reputation on delivery. The set arrived the day it was scheduled and in perfect condition. I checked back with Amazon after the purchase and the price dropped. This was my first HD TV. When I bought the TV I thought I will have free access to HD programs on TV, I was wrong, Buying HD TV does not mean you can now view TV in HD free of charge, Comcast is charging me additional $10 a month, in return they will send you a new HD cable box, The Quality of the picture is very good for HD programs, but for regular programs you may loose some resolution and the picture may look worse than standard TUBE style TV

Honestly? I've been researching Plasma's and LCD's for about a solid year now. 1: LCD's are about 5 years behind Plasma TV's so if your local salesman tries telling you otherwise just compare pictures. The fact you notice Plasma's are VISIBLY deeper in color and crisper should give you a real good clue. Where as Plasma TV's are about a year from reaching true black levels, LCD's are easily 3 to 5 years away still. So I've fully decided on a Plasma. Not to mention overall, prices are now much more competitive with Plasma's.

Secondly, In comparing Plasma TV's two brands consistently rate among the top 2. The Pioneer Kuro and the Panasonic Viera. The lates Kuro Elite 50 inch (Soon to put out a 46 and 42 inch model which is more preferrable to me.) is rated as having almost near black level. The JUST receently released Panny alledgedly is even SLIGHTLY better by all color testing measures. I think it was released like last week and isn't even on the U.S Market yet. So anyway, I read this as I was about to buy the Panny 46 inch 800u NOT 80u. The Panny 800u is extremely highly rated and at a much more reasonable price than the entirely over priced Pioneer which caters to the upper income bracket. Silly if you ask me. Same technowledgy just high priced by a mile. So that narrowed my search to a Panny.

3: So I'm about to buy it when I read a just released report on next years models. It appears to be rumored both Panny and Pioneer intend to or have reached ACTUAL TRUE black levels. So that stopped me in my tracks. Why pay over 2 grand when next years Models will be far superior. The argument is they will always be better but from my research, with Digital the new standard in Feb and many needing new TV's, there will be an even bigger push to get out the most improved model possible next year to attract the new consumer. (Which is sorta bogus cause all you need is a cable box and wallah digital) but many will be completely duped into thinking they need a new TV. So with that new push for the latest tech, recent rumors and money conerns, I personally recommend waiting a year.

BUT, if you buy a TV? I myself recommend the 46 to 50 inch Panny Viera 800u. It's been consistently rated higher than the newer 850u and visually, I myself see no real difference to the Pioneer which is at least 1200 more.

Should I buy online or from a store? I had all the fears of stepping out on the edge. I have never ordered from amazon and have heard all the debates on lcd vs plasma. I did the online and instore research for a month. My wife finally said just buy the dang thing so I went for it and man was I ever satisfied. From start to finish I had first class service and as for the Plasma let me tell you I am amazed at the quality. the HD is fantastic and the bluray is out of this world. This is a great plasma. This set in the stores was any were from 200.00 to 600.00 more and I would have had to go get it. Amazon brought not only to my door but also brought it in and and turned it on for a test run. I looked at buying a more expensive set ya know you get what you pay for but I myself read alot of customer reviews on this plasma and took the chance. I tell you take the money you save on this set and buy a bluray, HD receiver, Bluray discs, and a new Plasma hutch. you won't be sorry.

Excellent price/delivery from Vanns/Yellow freight. Great TV, games and movies via PS3 amazing, sound is so good that I won't be buying a theater system anytime soon. Standard TV is ok too, better then I expected eventhough I'm less then 8ft away. Glare is somewhat of an issue during the day and night viewing with lights on, but it's ok and I will get used to it. Viera cast is easy to setup and have been using it to check the weather and look at u-tube videos. All in all perfect so far.

I also want to comment on Vanns excellent customer service. I placed the order on 09/02/08 and it was delivered on the 8th. During that time Vanns dropped the price a couple of times, a quick email to them and they promptly credited my amazon CC. I thought that was pretty classy.

I've owned this tv for 6 months now,and I'm very satisfied with the picture
quality and options.The sound could be better but is fine when using Onkyo
reciever.Picture quality for video games and dvd playback is excellent.My HD Direct TV picture looks awesome on this unit.There is some glare from
lighting in the house or the sun, but its not as bothersome as some other tv's.I have had no problems with this tv.Everything works as it should.
I would highly recomend this tv to anyone looking for the best picture,biggest size,and best price.After all,thats why I bought it!
