Bought the first one and then two weeks later, bought a second.
This TV should be ranked higher than the Sony in my opinion (neighbor has the Sony, so I've seen it).
AT the original purchase, price was a factor...it was priced under the Sony.
1. The picture: Best picture I've seen on an LCD
2. Seamless setup: Plug and play makes this a no-brainer and extremely easy to set it in the stand.
3. Features...too many to list...Top six for me
...on the run picture size (zoom, zoom +, 16.9. etc.)
...Sound alternatives from the remote (surround, speech only, etc.)
...Entertainment mode...movie...music...sports
...Picture modes actually work...Dynamic, standard, etc
...Component (Source) Seamless again...DVD, Cable, etc.
...Well thought out interfaces, side panel connections for Camcorder, digital camera
Only downside is built in speakers, but who doesn't us surround sound now?

I did alot of research before I bought my first HD LCD TV. This was the perfect one. It was on sale for $499 so I had to jump on it. It has got better then all the rest picture quality. The sound is ok need a little bit more bass, but I have powered sub-woofer that rocks the wall so Im ok with it. But it sounds pretty damn good with out it. This TV picked up channels I didnt even know existed. I was shocked. I have Standard Cable and I already knew what channels I have. This TV picked around 10-15 more channels with out a cable box. WOW, good tuner. You wont go wrong with buying this TV. Stop your research now and buy it. I would have paid more for this TV now that I know what its capable of.

I ordered this TV based upon an excellent review in Consumer Reports. The price from 6AVE was excellent.

I upgraded my cable TV service to HD and got a DVR at the same time. I have to say I was truly astounded at the quality of the picture on this TV - excellent quality, even when viewing the screen from off-center. The colors were rich and the details crisp.

I also enjoyed viewing the hi-res pictures on my SD memory card which the TV handles, although I wish there were a few more seconds of viewing time per slide in slide show mode.

I was able to connenct my laptop to the TV's PC connector, and while the resultant picture was excellent, I was only able to achieve 1024x768 resolution (higher resolutions resulted in overscan). I was hoping to get up to the full 1920x1080 resolution to show my pictures in really hi-res.

In summary, an excellent HDTV, and I highly recommend it!

I bought this a month ago for the bedroom and am very pleased with the picture. I find the picture as good or better than the picture on my Sony Bravia which was much more expensive. The speaker quality is average (hence the 4 stars), but since I have mine hooked up with a surround system, it is a non issue for me. If you plan to use the TV speakers and like to crank the sound up, you might be a little dissappointed as they are a bit tinny and don't have much power. The speakers are good for everyday users.
As far as overall product quality, I know that Sony is SUPPOSED to be the better brand, BUT I have had three other Toshiba products over the last 16 years, 2 TVs, and my laptop and they are all working great. Never had an issue. I have had three Sony products, a camcorder, the surround in my living room, and the Bravia over the last 7 years and I have had every single product break down on me to some degree or another. Sony always comes at a premium price so it is my experience that Toshiba is undervalued.
I will stick with Toshiba from now on.

I purchased this tv about a month ago for my bedroom. I need to get a special cable box for hd from my cable company and don't have one yet. To me, the color and contrast are fine, but I know with the box it will be much better. I'm not very techy, but the installer told me if I got special (HDMI?) cables, that would help also. I don't have the full HD setup for the true experience. That said, I find the images, especially peoples' heads and bodies, squatty. I know that sounds weird, but at first it really annoyed me. I'm getting used to it, but it still bothers me. I guess it's because of the overall shape of the tv...a longer retangular shape than the older tvs. I pointed it out to the installer, and he said that it wouldn't improve,that was the picture. Like others have pointed out, the sound is a little tinny and lacks fullness. I may set up some speakers at some point, but it can wait....doesn't bother me as much as the squatty images. Before I bought it, I did a lot of reading of ratings and opinions, and did a little research. Basically, I'm pretty satisfied. When I get the new cable box hooked up, with maybe those special cables, it should be improved.

After research, I bought 2 32" Bravias. They exceed my expectations and the purchase/delivery from Amazon was also great.

Price was right. TV has a great picture even without the High Def Box. Sound could be a little better, but once you play with the bass, its fine. Was really easy to set up. Love the 1080p.

Product (Sony Model KDL-32M4000) is generaly satsfactory except I dont seem to get the color adjusted to equal the brightness, intensity and depth that I have on my old (5 years) 27 in. Toshiba. I dont seem to be able to achieve the quality of color that I have observed in stores on this model Sony. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Love this TV. The picture quality is great and the sound quality is ok - unless it's turned up loud. Very easy to set up and light weight.
