I did considerable research before purchasing this model as a replacement for a small 12" analog model that we had on the kitchen counter. Both online and in-store comparisons led me to choose this Polaroid for its simplicity, picture quality, and price. It was a perfect replacement, and even upgrade, in preparation for the pending technology obsolescence mandate.

I found the picture quality to be better than similar small-screen LCD digital TV's that I compared in stores. The contrast and color is eye-popping when viewed straight-on. However, after receiving and installing the unit, I found that its display has a dramatic vertical viewing angle sensitivity, getting very dark below horizontal and washing out above horizontal. The side-to-side response is not as dramatic. This was not a problem for us, as it got wall-mounted on a fully extendable arm to free up kitchen counter space and allow it to be pushed out of the way when not in use.

The sound is not remarkable, but adequate for the small in-case stereo speakers in the open-air grill area along the bottom of the unit. I would not have expected home theatre sound in a 15" TV. The unit has a fully capable ATSC tuner for receiving off-air digital broadcasts as well as cable/satelite. It can also tune the standard broadcast channels (until February '09). Overall, we are very pleased with the unit and it serves our intended purpose extremely well.

I bit, they shipped. First the wrong control was shipped. When that was corrected, the unit provided proved to be unrepaired and would not work. A replacement for the replacement was provided. It never worked right either and I gave up and bought a different brand.

At twenty-six months the second unit went into "Hal" mode! I said design problem! Polaroid said: tough - out of warranty but for a mere $XXX they offered to ship a refurbished unit....

Worked Ok for about 13 months. The pic wasnt great before that either. So now a month after the warranty it flips out. The black "Polaroid" startup screen is now all red. The pictures is totally screwed, its kind of hard to explain what has happened to it, the resolution is screwed, pixelized garbage and the colors are way off. Called Polaroid and after talking to a guy there he said he has come to the end of his troubleshooting abilities and said I could send it back to Polaroid and they would SELL me another. Kinda funny, I entertained the notion to see how much they wanted to charge, they said they would call back with a price. A week later a guy calls at 2:00 PM wanting numbers on the back of the plasma. I am at work so cant do it. He said he would call back at 5:00 PM when I am off work, no call. Been a week and nothing. Long story short........Dont buy it.

POLAROID PRODUCTS - BAD PRODUCT AND LOUSY CUSTOMER SERVICE 11/25/08

On 01/26/2007 I purchased a 37 inch Polaroid LCD Television model number FLM-3732 (now a discontinued model) , paying $1181.11 to Circuit City On 10/3/2008 it died. Screen went black after only 22 months. First call I was told to replace a fuse which I did to no avail. After several more calls to Polaroid Tech support I was asked to FAX my receipt to Polaroid to get an OK to send it to their warehouse in Camarillo, California for replacement. Cost of TV replacement $310.00. They charged my credit card immediately for the $310 . . . So they have had my money all this time. I was told that my card wouldn't be charged until they shipped the TV.

Shipping charges were on me for a total cost $166.89 to return the product to their warehouse. The charges breakdown as follows; $43.49 for packing materials and $123.40 for UPS shipping.

I was told that it would take about 2 weeks for the new TV to arrive. I called in about 10 days later to check the status of the replacement and was told AGAIN that it was 2 weeks until they would be sending it. The representative at that time also told me that I would getting a rebuilt or a new unit at their discretion. I was never told this in the beginning. I called again in 3 weeks and got the same answer . . . 2 weeks. At 4 weeks I called again only to get the same rout answer . . . 2 weeks. Asking for a manager got me no further. 2 weeks must be a plaque or motto on their walls. Calling at week 5 was like Groundhog day . . . Same useless answers . . . You guessed it 2 weeks. The question here is why was I told to send the unit back (on my dime) when they didn't have any TV's in stock. Plus they would replace my unit with a newer version on my unit namely FLM - 373B (also discontinued). See a pattern here? Circuit City and Best Buy no longer seem to carry Polaroid product . . . Smart on their managements part. Bad product reviews all over the net. Wish that I had seem them 2 years ago.

Chapter 3, Finally, a manager stepped up with an offer to either send me a new 32 inch TV (obviously smaller then what I had originally) or a refund of only my $310. I took a 3rd option to wait 1 more week to see if the 37 inch TV's came in. I called the following week to follow up to see if the TV was being sent out. I left a message for them to call me BEFORE they shipped the new TV as I needed to advise them that the TV was to be placed in a cabinet with a maximum of 36.5 inch width. While this information was in my increasingly large file . . . I was told that Polaroid had already sent a TV to me. They told me it was a 40 inch unit. OMG!!!! These people are dolts, fools, ignoramus or in serious need of a mental health professional. Today, per FedEx tracking the 40 inch TV should arrive which I am told to refuse and call Polaroid back with he tracking number to get my refund within 72 hours . . . That remains to be seen.

Yesterday I bought a new TV at Costco and got a jump from 720p to 1080p 37" for HALF what I originally paid for the Polaroid and a 2 year warranty for FREE.

I WILL NEVER, NEVER BUY A POLAOID PRODUCT AGAIN!!!!!
