I do not watch alot of TV -- and the only thing with any regularity would be NBA basketball, so I'm not hung up on every little aspect, but as far as getting it out of the box, set up, and watching it, I have to say I'm very pleased with my purchase. The ONLY reason I don't give it 5 stars is because of the darn plug being a 3-prong plug instead of a 2-prong plug making it impossible for me to plug it directly into my HDTV box and necessitating my having to use two remotes (the Samsung one to turn it on and adjust the volume and the HDTV one to change channels). I'm not sure if I would have known about this issue ahead of time if I would have still purchased it - I HATE having a coffee table full of remotes. The picture is super clear and the setup was a breeze. I'm receiving the digital signal via a Terk antennae and get a perfect picture as long as the winds aren't blowing too much. That's when I throw on a dvd. ;-)

One cool thing to do with this set is connect my laptop via the pc connection and watch Netflix on demand movies or any of the networks streaming content. Also, the iTunes movies and tv shows play and look really good on this set. Now, if I only had an hdmi output on the laptop, I'd be set.

My only drawback is the way it programs favorite channels. I think it's a bit tedious and could be done via a button on the remote with one click.

Super stylish, great picture, fair sound, easy purchase.

The Samsung LNT2653h is by far one of the best LCD TVs that I own. Considering that I own several Sony LCD TVs, this TV can match if not exceed the picture quality of the others that I have. Would highly endorse this priduct.

Excellent HD quality. Great looking set - I thought I would have preferred a matte finish, but the gloss is really sharp. Pretty good sound, but I'll upgrade. No noise problems. If you have your direcTv receiver autoselect (native mode) the picture based on the input signal, you won't feel the need to toggle between zoom options. Might have gone for the 32 inch if I had it to do over, but this is a great set for a smaller room, and a great value. The set is light weight. Set up and menu navigation is easy. You can turn off features such as the set's blue standby light and the start up tune once the novelty wears off. I'm very pleased.

Want the Best Plasma or Lcd TV?
Don't Miss Our Flat Panel Plasma & Lcd Tv Reviews & Buying Guide Section

I'm happy to report that after two weeks of use the experience has been fantastic. First off, the picture is just gorgeous. Of course I expected that with HD cable and a Blu-Ray (PS3) player -- it's jaw-droppingly great -- but I was very impressed with the SD picture of this unit. Sure, it pales in comparison to HD, but the SD channels don't have that processed look that makes everything appear like it's been through a photoshop watercolor filter. I've seen that on a number of LCDs and plasmas before and it drives me nuts. Remember, they never will show a SD signal to you at most stores-- it's always a sharp HD signal. The good SD clarity is even more impressive for a 50" model.

I'm still in the break-in period-- trying to make sure the phosphors burn in easily; I downloaded a burn-in disc from eaprogramming.com, which has been helpful.

Lastly, a few nice words for the purchase experience via Amazon and 6ave: The unit was shipped to my home in Michigan within a week; upon delivery the unit was inspected as required; everything was great. I'd certainly use 6ave again.

I highly recommend this TV... first of all, why buy LCD for the same size when you can buy plasma for $1000 less? if u are worried about light reflection on the plasma TVs this panasonic has anti-glare in it... and the colors are jaw dropping....
This panasonic in specific I highly recommend because Panasonic is the 2nd best in Plasma after Pioneer (which is way over priced)... the 50PZ700U has better speakers than this one (but who buys a 50 inch TV without seperate speakers anyways) and u can hook your laptop to the TV and use it with the TV, but you would have to pay $300-400 more for it... if u need a 3rd HDMI input then go with the PZ750U nd play $600 more for it (I am sure 2 HDMI is more than u need)... so if u dont need to hook ur laptop to the TV and don't need a side HDMI cable that u probably wont use, then save urself $300-600 by buying this awesome TV right here, because the technology is the same...
I have an LCD Samsung and I have this 50PZ77u and i love my panasonic more.. with w panasonic blue ray (which uses the same remote control and is way better than the sony blue ray or samsung blue ray) then you wont go wrong... add some nice surround sound system and u will be amazed ...

After much research and actaully seeing the 700U, 750U, and 77U in person I settled on the TH-50PZ77U. The anti-glare screen works excellent in my environment. I have a fair amount of indirect light during the day, with light colored walls and hardwood floors there is high possibility of glare. This TV handles it brilliantly and I no longer have any issues watching during the day.

I was able to view all 3 models at a local Best Buy Magnolia so I had pretty much decided on the 77U when CC dropped the price down on sale to 2k after the Super Bowl. It was a no brainer and I do not regret it one bit.

I have an Onkyo TX-SR705 so I did not need the additional HDMI input of the 750U. I ran a break in disc when I wasn't watching it for 150 hrs then had it calibrated and WOW does the picture pop on this thing! I can't believe how good the black levels are either. As good as it looked on the show room floor it looks even better now. Unless you have an extra couple grand to throw at a Pioneer you can't do any better than a Panny plasma in my opinion.

Connected devices: Onkyo TX-SR705, Panasonic DMP-BD30, Xbox 360 Elite, DirecTV HR-20

Want the Best Plasma or Lcd TV?
Don't Miss Our Flat Panel Plasma & Lcd Tv Reviews & Buying Guide Section

I was surprised with the ease of the transaction though. The shipping was incredible. I order on a Sunday and the item arrived on Tuesday. That is without expedited shipping, granted it was shipped from NJ and I live in PA. Timing was perfect and the item came unmarked.

Communication was great- received emails confirming order, shipping/tracking status.

Mainly bought the TV for PS3. The same day it came plugged it in and in looked pretty good. Then I went and bought the appropriate cables (HDMI) and what a difference. Even my girlfriend thought some of the games looked better than some movies. Blurays- speechless.

I would recommend though as a bedroom TV or a smaller sized room not as the main TV. I got it for the bedroom and I can't be more please with the product and size. But, if I had the same TV in the main room, I would want bigger than 40. In my opinion this wouldn't be big enough for me.

Just got this TV today and I hooked it up to my cable service (w/o HD) and the picture still looked great. Just Can't wait to see the difference when I Finally get the HD hook up, which is simple. Ohh yes... and also, with an S-Video cable, this screen makes a Fantastic 32 inch Computer Monitor. I'm actually typing this review using the Sharp Aquos as my monitor. So Your Search is over. Great Price, fast ship (1 week), 1080p!!!. Ohh, did I mention 1080p!!!! I haven't seen any other 32" with 1080p!!!. This TV was the best bang for my buck and it should be yours too. Wow, this sounds like a commercial.

Want the Best Plasma or Lcd TV?
Don't Miss Our Flat Panel Plasma & Lcd Tv Reviews & Buying Guide Section

I could not be happier.

I was looking at the Samsung LNT4671 for the 120Hz refresh rate. But what does everyone say about 120Hz refresh? They compare it to plasma! This TV is bigger and cheaper than the LNT4671 so I opted for the real deal.

Glare on the screen is very minimal as advertised. In comparison to the old tube tv it replaced the glare is non-existent.

I am still in my first 100 hour burn in period so I have turned down the brightness and contrast. You'll want to spend a few minutes tuning this puppy in with the colors looking the way you want them to. Not sure if this is just superstition or has been fixed with new generations of plasmas but I'm playing it safe.

I can not say anything about the sound since I run all sound through my Onkyo 605 receiver.

THE TV IS PERFECT, NO PROBS AT ALL. THE SERVICE WAS PERVECT, NO PROBS AT ALL. NO NEED TO SAY MORE. WOULD DEFINATLY DO BUSINESS WITH AMAZON AGAIN. WILL CONTINUE TO BUY SAMSUNG AS WELL.

Want the Best Plasma or Lcd TV?
Don't Miss Our Flat Panel Plasma & Lcd Tv Reviews & Buying Guide Section

The colors are bright, vivid and really stand out. Glare was an issue I was worried about but this TV shines through. Took a long time and compared between the Samsung 5271 and Sony 52XBR4, but am glad I picked the Samsung. My brother was considering the Sony, but when this one came in he had to have it! That coupled with the great price and quick delivery from EAGLE made this a great deal. PS3 games and Blu-ray discs look simply fantastic and as do all HD channels! Recommend turning off Auto -motion plus for movies as it makes them look a bit strange, great for sports though. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

awesome love it ,can't get this price anywhere, can't stop watching it.I don't even have the really expensive hdmi monster cable yet and it looks awesome, with ps3 and blueray disc flawless!!!

I bought it referbished from Amazon Warehouse for $1500. Tv was in near perfect condition except for a scratch on the top right. The Picture quality when things don't move a lot is excelent but once the action pick up pace it's another story, things become blurry. This dont really blame samsung for that cause i found out that all LCDs' blur. If you play lots of video game or fast moving images get plasma. I was so excited when I first got my new tv that i went out and bought Uncharted, Drakes Fortune for the PS3 but the blur has discouraged me form playing. I wished someone had told me how bad the blur was before i bougth this set. The only reason why i haven't returned this set is because i paid so little for it.

Want the Best Plasma or Lcd TV?
Don't Miss Our Flat Panel Plasma & Lcd Tv Reviews & Buying Guide Section

The image quality, styling, user interface and features were all excellent. After that, pushing the power on button would result only in the on indicator flashing 10 times with a black screen and no sound. A quick internet search turned up many others with similar problems. It seems the number of flashes is a service code, probably indicating a power supply problem. I hope the in home service promised in the warranty will provide a quick repair. My advice is to buy another model.

After a disappointing experience with an LCD TV, I spent a day researching sets and learning a bit about HD. A salesman at one of the big-box stores told me that plasma was 'old-technology' and should be avoided. Listening to that turkey was my first mistake.

After reading lots of set reviews and educating myself about the merits and short comings of plasma and LCD sets, I decided plasma was the way to go for me.

I ordered this set from Amazon for almost $700 less than the local big-box guys wanted for it and got free delivery too.

Am I pleased? I'm totally blown away how good this set looks! On standard cable channels regular TV looks phenomenal. And on the few HD channels I get, the picture is flawless. Almost like looking through a window.

Another surprise was the sound. I was planning on buying a small surround sound system, but after hearing how great this set sounds, I decided I was more than happy with the sound as it was. (my LCD set sounded horrible)

I paired the set with an Oppo DV-981HD up-converting DVD player (another item I'm very happy with) connected through the HDMI port and my DVD collection never looked so good.

With the money I saved by not having to buy a sound system, I got a PS3 for Blu-Ray disks. Again, wow!

Overall, this set exceeded my expectations in all ways.

I researched considerably before deciding to purchase this model. My previous model was a good Samsung CRT (27inch, HD capable). This TV exceeds my expectations. I am enjoying it so much. I am currently viewing HDTV per antenna (Syracuse NY), with a simple amplified home antenna, and am getting wonderful reception of digital channels. I am also watching SD DVDs per component cable feeds from a simple SONY DVD player. I am so amazed at the quality of picture. Highly recommended.

Want the Best Plasma or Lcd TV?
Don't Miss Our Flat Panel Plasma & Lcd Tv Reviews & Buying Guide Section

I had a Samsung plasma a couple of years ago and the picture was very grainy. This has the best picture I could imagine. I did some research and found out that this is model is the best bang for the buck. While the 4281 has the LED backlighting, It isn't worth double the money.

I ordered it through Wearhouse Deals. It is obviously an open item. The only thing wrong, however, the only things missing was the remote and the cleaning cloth. Since I already ordered the Harmony 890, no prob!! Not having the remote that I wasn't going to use anyway is totally worth paying the $1200 less. In the end I only paid $1350 including shipping.

I bought this 12/12/07, and I figure if anything would go wrong it would within 6 months. Well just yesterday... a vertical green line appeared from the top to bottom about 1/3 way into the left side. You can't tell its there if you are watching a show that has a lot of movement. But when the action slows down it very obvious and annoying. Other than that the TV is 5 out of 5 stars. Its rather unfortunate, since the $1500+ price tag you would think a couple dead pixels no big deal, but a whole line? I ended up going back to my very reliable SONY Trinitron last night to watch movie. After 9 years its giving me the best reliable picture quality, sure its not HD. but at least I don't have any vertical lines.

On the warranty side of things I did call Samsung and they did say a service tech would pick it up. We'll see how that turns out. Until then, back to the TRINITRON ...:0[[ASIN:B000U9ZCQS Samsung LNT4071F 40" 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV]]

Amazon has done it again. I explored all the various HDTV's, and because of the value(one third off), and the great reviews, I decided to purchase it. The first one arrived damaged, and Eagle did a great job of helping me out. Their white glove treatment is the best. The television was replaced, with no hassle, and it works like a charm.

Want the Best Plasma or Lcd TV?
Don't Miss Our Flat Panel Plasma & Lcd Tv Reviews & Buying Guide Section

Plug in your PC and up to 9 other components-including HDMI™-to create the full entertainment experience. And enjoy the quality and style that can only come from a Bravia™ TV.
Feature List BRAVIA Engine™ Full Digital Video Processor: BRAVIA™ V-Series LCD televisions use Sony's BRAVIA Engine™ full digital video processor for crisp and clear images. Several special picture enhancement technologies are integrated into the processor to create better gradations and details, enhance contrast, dynamically improve color, and reduce image flicker.
Full HD 1080: There are a lot of ways to define high-definition but BRAVIA Full HD means you’re getting the best resolution that high-definition has to offer consumers. With Sony BRAVIA V-Series HDTVs, Full HD 1080 means 1920 x 1080 pixels and 1080p video inputs. Your lifestyle demands the best in high-definition and with BRAVIA Full HD 1080 products you get it.
1920 x 1080 Panel Resolution: When it comes to high-definition TV the pinnacle of performance is achieved by using 1920 x 1080 display panels. And BRAVIA V-Series televisions have them. Full HD 1920 x 1080 panel resolution with over 2 million pixels (more than twice that of 720p HDTV) is exactly what you need to reproduce the 1080p content that can be delivered by our cutting edge 1080p Blu-ray disc™ player. And working with BRAVIA Engine™ PRO everything from standard definition and high definition is upconverted to 1080p for a picture so real it’s like you’re actually there.
Live Color Creation System: Decades of television know how allow us to realize that an LCD TV is more than just the panel; it’s actually a system. Uncompromised picture quality starts with combining carefully chosen components and circuits to optimize system quality, among these are the color creation and processing functions. That’s what Live Color Creation is all about. It starts with the BRAVIA Engine™ PRO video processing system, which enhances primary colors and corrects half-tone colors for natural overall color. Next, a WCG-CCFL backlight using Sony’s phosphor formula delivers a specific spectrum of light designed to work with our specially formulated color filters. The combination of these three components creates deep, deep blues and natural greens for overall colors that draw you right into the picture itself.
High Contrast Ratio: Sony uses a dynamic backlighting system called ACE (Advanced Contrast Enhancement) on BRAVIA V-Series TVs. ACE automatically senses the APL (Average Picture Level) of the video signal and adjusts the intensity of the backlight for improved contrast. VESA test and measurement methods are applied yielding a contrast ratio of used 7000:1. This number represents the widest possible ratio between black and white contrast levels. Sony also measures their BRAVIA televisions with a more stringent method that measures the amount of black and white levels that can appear on the screen at the same time. This method yields a more real world measurement of 1300:1
HDMI™ and PC Connectivity: Designed for maximum versatility, Sony’s BRAVIA V-Series LCD TVs are equipped with a comprehensive range of input interfaces. The HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is the first industry-supported, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface. HDMI technology supports enhanced or High Definition video, together with multi-channel digital audio to provide matchless image and sound reproduction. BRAVIA V-Series TVs include (2) HDMI 1080/60p inputs. The PC input (HD-15-pin) offers easy connection to your PC, allowing you to use your high resolution BRAVIA V-Series Digital TV as a computer monitor.

I won't beat a dead horse here by posting another redundant review. I completely agree with Christopher Lee (The Beast) and have had the same experiences and made similar adjustments. I wouldn't trade this TV set for any other out there. My only complaint was that the TV will not accept anything better than 1080i through the component inputs, which astounds me. I could find nothing that would have indicated this to me prior to my purchase. First generation XBox 360 users should take note of this. I've changed my 360 out for a later model with HDMI (great reason for an upgrade!), so no problems now and I'm rockin' 1080p content.

This t.v. is terrific. Very clean looking. havent seen any ghosting or whatever people were talkin about. 7000:1 contrast ratio + 1080p blows away the competition. Would recommend to anyone

This is the set that made a big-screen believer out of me. The Sony 40 and 46V2500 series is capable of producing a hi-def picture second to none--and with little to no set-up or calibration. Moreover, it has features--a swivel stand, non-glossy surface, Tru-Surround sound--that may place it ahead of more recent models. If you're trying to determine what distinguishes it from the Sony 40 and 46V3000 series, the main difference is that the speakers of the V3000 series are on the sides instead of the bottom, resulting in a somewhat wider frame. Also, the V3000 series comes with Theater-Synch, which may be a consideration to consumers who have other Sony components that they wish to incorporate with the screen while limiting the number of steps and remotes. The other differences are primarily specs not relevant to the actual viewing experience--number of bits, contrast ratios, 24 fps, etc.--the purely technical things that videophiles dwell on for the sake of argument, whether visible or not to the naked eye. Truthfully, my eyes see no room for improvement.

If you're shopping in the 1000-1400 range and haven't been brainwashed by the Samsung advocates, there's no question in my mind that the biggest bang for the buck would be the 40 or 46V2500 from Amazon Warehouse. The major caveat is the meager amount of actual hi-def content. (Out of the 2000 channels listed in my Time-Warner materials, no more than 20 of them regularly telecast at 720p and higher. And most of that is mindless mush--though with this Sony model it can be a pleasure just to watch scenery.)

Want the Best Plasma or Lcd TV?
Don't Miss Our Flat Panel Plasma & Lcd Tv Reviews & Buying Guide Section

Another benefit is a fast response time. Response time is the interval an LCD screen takes to from its darkest color to its lightest color and back again, measured in milliseconds (ms). This screen's response time is 8 ms, which is at the faster and better end of the spectrum. This screen is likely to display cleaner, sharper images during high-action scenes and with fewer image artifacts than other screens in its class. This technology is housed in a black gloss cabinetry that is sure to fit well with most any decor.
The 37HL67 has a panel resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. This qualifies it as 720 progressive-line HDTV, which is a noticeably better picture than standard definition sets, but not as detailed as the 1080 HD sets available. Its 16:9 wide screen aspect ratio delivers most movies the way they were meant to be seen in the theater, without back bars wasting the top and bottom of the screen.

The Value of LCD TVs
Aside from their obvious aesthetic value, LCD TVs are much more practical in the home than CRT (tube-style) televisions. They take up a smaller footprint, and thus use up less floor space in the room. Also, LCD TVs are lighter and easier to move around when cleaning or redecorating. The 37HL67 is only 4.65 inches deep and weighs less than 35 pounds. Best of all, LCD screens use less power than CRTs and plasma screens.

Connections
The set has a built-in digital television tuner, so out of the box it can receive digital broadcast ATSC signals and QAM signals used by most digital cable providers. It also has a built-in 181-channel NTSC tuner, so it can also accept traditional analog signals. It can also make these connections to your audio and video components:

HDMI inputs: 3

ColorStream HD component video inputs: 2

PC monitor input: 1 VGA 15 Pin D-sub

S-video input: 1

A/V inputs: 2

Audio
The unit's SoundStrip speaker system hides the unit's speakers in a thin strip bordering the screen. They're powerful enough to deliver big stereo sound, but they don't add significantly to the size of the set. Toshiba's StableSound feature maintains television volume within a preset range regardless of the source signal. This is an extremely useful feature when transitioning between a quiet television program and a very loud commercial advertisement or when changing channels. SRS WOW, a combination of SRS 3D, TruBass, and Focus sound-expanding systems, create a 3-D sound field with improved bass response over standard TV audio and create directed, three-dimensional audio sweet spot for maximum enjoyment. The TV also has optical digital output for connecting to your audio system.

37-inch wide screen
A general rule of thumb for selecting the right size television screen is that the screen width--not its 37-inch diagonal measurement--should be between three and five times the optimum viewing distance, such as the distance from the TV screen to where your eyes are while sitting on the couch. Less than that and you may be distracted by the scan lines of the picture. More than that, and you may lose the detail of your TV. Based on this guide, the 37HL67 is ideal for viewing distances of 8 to 14 feet.

What's in the Box
37HL67, stand, 4-item universal remote, stand, warranty and product manuals.

I researched this and other 37 in. TV's before purshasing. It was easy to set up, has beautiful picture. color is great. It took me a while to absorb all the info in the manual. But it is everything I was looking for and more. I have my surround sound w/ digital audio receiver/DVD player connected. I found out I needed an Optical audio cable to enable my TV to play the TV programs through my surround sound. My old tv didn't require that. But I figured it out after really studying the manual w/ tv and DVD player. I was so pleased and the sound is awesome!!! Also I connected another DVD player w/HDMI connection so I can play my vcd's that I make with my photography hobby. And they are beautiful too. So this has been a wonderful unit for me and I am a 64 yr. old lady, and put this together myself. Just needed a little muscle to get my old very heavy tv. out.
I would highly recommend this product....it is great!!!

cam/Dav. Ia.

I researched for months before buying this TV. The Toshiba's are just as good as any Samsung or Sony but half the price. The picture is very nice. I play XBOX 360 as well as Wii on it and the graphics with both on this TV are awesome. My couch is about 7 feet away from the TV and any bigger than the 37" would be to big.

I'm very satisfied with my Toshiba Regza 37". Amazon sold and shipped it, and the whole process went smoothly. The TV takes only a few minutes to set up, and navigation of the menu is very easy. The picture is amazingly clear, and the sound is actually rather good! It looks great with a XBox 360 hooked up; I can finally see everything that is meant to be seen in-game. Even hooking up a VCR (to watch some History Channel Color of War tapes) looks superb! The TV picture options make the 1940's color footage look like it was shot to fit the wide-screen. I researched a lot of other HDTVs, and couldn't help but land on this one because of the overall quality and price. It's a great looking TV that's perfect for the first time buyer!

Want the Best Plasma or Lcd TV?
Don't Miss Our Flat Panel Plasma & Lcd Tv Reviews & Buying Guide Section

Also, this TV had the more recent firmeware update, which took care of those auto motion problems.

We are very happy with this TV and with the service we got ordering from Amazon.

After weeks of sleepless nights trying to decide on which Samsung (the only choice) to buy, I finally settled on the 4669. Allow me to preface this review by stating that I had TWO open orders for the 4671 model. After reading countless negative reviews regarding the glare problem on the '71, my mind was finally made up. Remember...the 4669 has the same 120hz refresh rate (which you may or may not find useful, but the option is welcome) and a 20,000:1 contrast ratio. The difference between this and the 25,000:1 on the '71 is indiscernible by the naked eye, trust me. The icing on the cake? A few hundred dollars cheaper....always a good thing! HDMI quality is outstanding. Older DVDs look brand new. Standard def is better than expected. Sound quality was a nice suprise!

This TV is a real beauty, from a technical and stylistic standpoint. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPOINTED!!!!

p.s.
The TV arrived dead on time and the Eagle guys could not have been nicer. I even offered them a beer for their great work (which they politely declined). This was probably the smoothest online transaction I'll ever make. Bravo to Amazon and Eagle Shipping!!

I really anguished over my HD purchase. I play games and I watch movies. As a result, I value fast response time and high quality picture. I settled on the 4671 because it had the fast screen response and a "game mode". However, I also planned to purchase an armoire (performance furniture) and the 4671 was one inch too wide. I noticed that the 4669 was very similar but a couple inches narrower. That was good. It was cheaper than the 4671 too. After much research, I bought it.

The delivery was excellent. The web tracking was completely broken and I had to call up for an appointment, but they set one and kept it. No problem.

I saw another review about getting a refund if the price went down. It did go down after my purchase but before delivery and I called for a refund of the difference. Amazon did it. I was impressed.

The picture is AWESOME. Very 3D. I'm hooked. TV with a regular signal doesn't look so great which I expected. Blu-Ray is off the chart nice. I have notice that the image blurs in very fast scenes unless game mode is on. I saw this most in Star Wars Empire Strikes Back. When Luke and Vader were swinging the sabres, they would occasionally blur for a split second. I'm still experimenting with this. It's minor I think.

I recommend this TV.

Want the Best Plasma or Lcd TV?
Don't Miss Our Flat Panel Plasma & Lcd Tv Reviews & Buying Guide Section

In addition, Deep Color input capability works with the 10-bit processor and panel to deliver 64 times the level of color expression versus current 8-bit systems. Wrap all of this up with an elegant a new brushed metal picture frame design and there's nothing like W-Series HDTV's.
Full HD 1080
There are a lot of ways to define high-definition but BRAVIA Full HD means you’re getting the best resolution that high-definition has to offer consumers. With Sony BRAVIA W Series HDTVs, Full HD 1080 means 1920 x 1080 pixels5 and 1080p video inputs. Your lifestyle demands the best in high-definition and with BRAVIA Full HD 1080 products you get it.
1920 x 1080 Panel Resolution
1920 x 1080 Panel Resolution --- When it comes to high-definition TV the pinnacle of performance is achieved by using 1920 x 1080 display panels. And BRAVIA W Series televisions have them. Full HD 1920 x 1080 panel resolution with over 2 million pixels 5(more than twice that of 720p HDTV) is exactly what you need to reproduce the 1080p content that can be delivered by our cutting edge 1080p Blu-ray disc player.
10-bit Processing and 10-bit Display
While it's great to state that a TV is capable of creating billions of colors it's a whole lot better when you have a display that can actually display them. That's the logic behind Sony's 10-bit processor and 10-bit display. Sony follows 10-bit processing with a 10-bit panel, allowing 64 times the levels of color expression than an 8-bit panel. What that translates to is smoother transitions from color to color and subtle color changes faithfully reproduced.
BRAVIA Engine EX Full Digital Video Processor
The BRAVIA Engine EX full digital video processing system is based on Sony's famous BRAVIA Engine video processing system.
Live Color Creation System featuring WCG-CCFL
Decades of television know how allow us to realize that an LCD TV is more than just the panel; it’s actually a system. Uncompromised picture quality starts with combining carefully chosen components and circuits to optimize system quality, among these are the color creation and processing functions. That’s what Live Color Creation is all about. It starts with the BRAVIA Engine EX video processing system, which enhances primary colors and corrects half-tone colors for natural overall color. Next, a WCG-CCFL backlight using Sony’s phosphor formula delivers a specific spectrum of light designed to work with our specially formulated color filters. The combination of these three components creates deep, deep blues and natural greens for overall colors that draw you right into the picture.
Advanced Contrast Enhancer (ACE) Function
Sony’s Advanced Contrast Enhancer (ACE) builds on our excellent on-contrast ratio performance of 1,800:11. A Dynamic Contrast Ratio of up to 16,000:12 is achieved by using real-time image processing to adjust the contrast along with optimizing backlight levels. But rather than focus on the "numbers", Sony focuses on actual picture performance avoiding exaggerated blacks where detail can be lost. ACE translates to blacker blacks in darker scenes, as well as better shadow detail in other scenes for a difference that you can see.
x.v.Color technology
BRAVIA HDTV's performance has now advanced to the point that the color range can be defined by limitations in the original video source, rather than the TV. Thanks to the adoption of a newly approved international color standard called xvYCC (an option in the HDMI v1.3 spec and which Sony participated in creating), the color space has been greatly expanded. 1.8 times as many natural colors as existing HDTV signals will now be faithfully reproduced. x.v.Color is the name Sony has chosen to promote video products that include xvYCC capability. x.v.Color enabled products can now offer more accurate color reproduction and natural colors.
24p True Cinema (24p Input Capability)
Many movies are filmed at 24 frames per second (fps) and prime time TV programs are video taped at 24p. Seizing on an opportunity, some studios are taking a purist approach and encoding high definition video content such as Blu-ray Disc in 24p. Sony wisely takes advantage of this by including 24p output capability on their BDP-S1 Blu-ray Disc player. It makes sense that select 2007 BRAVIA TVs will include 24p input capability. The benefit? Images are smooth and natural looking. Once you experience 24p video it will be hard to view video without it.
DMex - Ready (Digital Module Extender)
Sony's Digital Media Extender (DMex) ready televisions offer a digital connection path for the addition of the optional modules like the new BRAVIA Internet Video Link. 6 With innovative DMex expansion capabilities featuring the Emmy award winning XMB user interface, select 2007 models are not merely TVs, but powerful entertainment platforms that not only meet your needs today, but expand easily to meet tomorrow's needs as well.
Xross Media Bar (XMB) interface
When was the last time you saw an on-screen display that was fast, fun and easy to use? Sony's award-winning Xross Media Bar (pronounced Cross) provides a logical and fast way to access set up menus, user controls, and more. The on-screen display comes to life by pushing the XMB menu button on the remote. Navigation through the menus is smooth and fast.
BRAVIA Theatre Sync technology
Sony created BRAVIA Theatre Sync to go beyond basic digital audio and video transmission. Based on the HDMI-CEC function. BRAVIA Theatre Sync will be included on select BRAVIA Theatre home A/V systems and components. This useful function reduces the hassle and time consuming job of powering up, routing signals, etc. to the simple push of one button.8 Sony calls this nifty feature BRAVIA Theatre Sync. Here's how it works. Want to play a DVD on your Sony A/V system? Easy, just push PLAY on the BRAVIA HDTV remote and everything is taken care of for you. Even when the system is off! Want to change from TV sound to digital surround sound through your Sony BRAVIA Theatre A/V system? Just one push of the Theater Sound button on the remote and voila, surround sound through your system. Want to power down everything once you've finished enjoying it? Push one button and the TV and A/V system powers down. BRAVIA Theatre Sync helps make things a whole lot easier to operate.
S-Force Front Surround
Built around a sophisticated set of Sony algorithms, the S-Force Front Surround enhancement function generates realistic surround sound from the two speakers in the TV. Unlike some other "virtual surround" technologies, sound does not need to be bounced off of side walls or other surfaces to hear three-dimensional sound. No matter what the size or shape of the room it's possible to hear sounds from behind you.

Awesome TV and great service. The TV arrived in perfect condition and everything went great.

The purchase price was the lowest I had seen on the web. Delivery was quick and efficient. I received the Sony LCD TV and it was set up in a professional manner. I was very happy with this purchase.

I purchased the Sony Bravia KDL-52W3000 52" TV from Amazon.com after reading reviews that this TV is as sharp as the XBR's and the Samsungs. I've heard and have personally experienced problems getting parts from Samsung. Even under warranty, you dont want to have to wait weeks for parts. So I bought the Sony and it blows away my expectations. Here is my setup:

Sony TV is plugged into an APC AV H15BLK Power Conditioner (also purchased from Amazon.com) because my home has substandard RG59 wiring which is susceptible to harmonic interference. I also have problems with minor power fluctuations. Even though the power conditioner is a surge protector, I plugged it in to a panamax Max 2 surge protector so it will take the hit in the event of a surge and not screw up my $380 power conditioner.

The picture is clean and amazing. I cant wait for the superbowl. HD programming is supurb. Regular programming is good as well. I use the vivid mode for cartoons, standard for regular TV, and cinema or my custom settings for football. Setting the TV on cinema or customizing it will smooth out the picture for fast moving sports.

The sound is great in custom mode. Just crank up the voice boost. It wont interfere at all in regular programming and it is absolutely wonderful when watching the news. The difference between the regular sound and custom sound is very noticeable so by all means customize it the way you like it!

Be sure to only use HDMI 1.3 Category 2 cables because this TV has the capability to separate the colors more for a better picture, but only if you use cables that are compatible.

I was concerned about late delivery because I had scheduled Eagle Delivery to come on New Years Eve and the installer was coming on New Years Day. When Eagle didn't arrive by early afternoon, I gave the local warehouse a call and they put me in touch with the delivery supervisor who gave me the driver's cell phone. I was able to do some shopping and made an appointment directly with the driver for 9pm. He showed up just after 9pm. I praise Eagle's responsiveness to my needs.

Eagle is now part of CEVA Logistics and you can track your package or call the customer service number for your local warehouse once your package gets there (www.cevalogistics.com).

My recommendation is to purchase from Amazon.com. I've read a lot of reviews that state that people spent the extra money to buy from a big box store. All you are doing is spending more money AND paying sales tax to boot. As for me, I will continue to buy from Amazon.com and have CEVA deliver it to my door. Yes I was fortunate that the TV has NO dead pixels, but then I've never seen a dead pixel in a Sony TV although I have seen some in the smaller Samsungs. I usually check all of the high end TV's when I'm at my local warehouse store and havent found a single dead pixel in any Sony TV of any size. It does happen according to the delivery driver, but Sony is pretty good about purchasing only the highest quality samsung LCD screens.

Stop your indecision and buy this TV. You will thank me for it! I've already received almost $120 back due to Amazon's 30 day price guarantee!

Want the Best Plasma or Lcd TV?
Don't Miss Our Flat Panel Plasma & Lcd Tv Reviews & Buying Guide Section

Sony does not hold back with any technologies, and the XBR series is its flagship line--so with the XBR, you know you'll get the best quality home theater experience available.

The KDL-52XBR4 has vibrant colors and a 178-degree viewing angle. The KDL-52XBR uses the most recent HDMI 1.3 interface, which houses both audio and video signals in one connector and has the bandwidth to support the data needed for the high resolution. Sony's Bravia Engine Pro Full Digital Video Processor upconverts all video signals to 1080p so you can watch all your old DVDs on this glorious display.
Sony complements the high resolution with the latest technology in color reproduction. The KDL-52XBR is a 10-bit display with 10-bit processing. Most panels are only 8-bit. The added bit depth here means a larger color palette for more faithful color reproduction and smoother transitions from one color to the next. Additionally, the display also supports the new x.v.Color standard, which dramatically increases the available color space. The end result is a picture that is so detailed, colorful, and vibrant, you'd have a hard time distinguishing it from real life.
The KDL-52XBR4 features Sony's Motionflow technology, which automatically adjusts for and applies the proper processing for optimal motion reproduction depending on the video input. This includes support for 24 frames per second (24p) video, which displays video content at the 24-frames-per-second rate at which it was originally filmed or recorded. With 24p, you get the most faithful possible reproduction of the original.
  A Wide Variety of Inputs
This Sony television's wide variety of inputs ensures compatibility with your other home theater components. There are three HDMI connections for Blu-Ray, HD DVD, and other technologies requiring the high bandwidth, and two component video inputs, three composite video inputs, one S-Video input, one PC Audio and Video input, and five analog audio inputs. Even with a collection of legacy components, you shouldn't have a problem connecting to the KDL-52XBR4.
  Stunning Looks
The KDL-52XBR4 not only displays stunning video but is itself a head-turner. It features Sony's unique floating glass frame along with a black bezel that can be interchanged with optional color bezels to match the display to your decor.
Outstanding Ergonomics and Simplicity of Control
Sony's Xross Media Bar interface is an award-winning, intuitive on-screen display that makes setup a breeze, with menus and controls logically laid out for quick access. The KDL-52XBR4 also features Theatre Sync technology, based on the HDMI-CEC standard, which means you can easily connect to and control compatible devices. For example, when the KDL-52XBR4 is connected to a compatible DVD player, you can turn on both the DVD player and the television and start playing a DVD with a single push of a button on the remote. When you're done, another push of a button powers everything down. With Theatre Sync, you can spend time enjoying the movie rather than waste time setting everything up.
  More Than Just a Television
Because more and more people expect to view photos on their HDTVs, Sony developed a Photo TV HD mode that optimally sets the sharpness, gradation, and color to make digital photos look like printed photography.
The KDL-52XBR4 is backed by a 1-year limited warranty for parts and labor.

<td valign="middle"style="text-align:justify;padding:5px 10px 5px 5px;font-size:11px;">
Full HD Quality
HDTV provides up to six times the visual detail of the Standard Definition television. Samsung is consistently cheaper and for some offer better value. But Sony's image/color processing seems superior even after my attempts to equalize the settings in the stores.

Sony (+): Better dark details (Samsung's dark contrast is pretty bad despite maxing out brightness), no glare on screen surface = key for daytime sports, better/accurate color reproduction (natural and soothing to look at for hours, but capable of vivid colors/contrast with adjustment), much better speakers, better 120hz technology.

Samsung (+): cheaper, swivel stand, the boasted high contrast ratio sounds good but black detail is lost and a shiney screen is needed. Samsung's color processing tends to exaggerate colors/contrast, which some might prefer.

LCD vs plasma: I have to admit we didn't consider the Pioneer's due to $$$$. The other plasmas including the Panasonic actually looked worse and I could not perceive a noticeable black level surperiority. I guess despite plasmas having the best black level, it's still not truly black. Unless the sales people sabotaged all the plasma's settings to push LCD's, the newest top tier LCD's look better next to these plasmas. So, we went with the LCD because the Sony fared well in these areas of perceived LCD weaknesses:

-Black level: Black level is pretty darn good even in a dark room, will not distract in dark scenes. The great contrast helps your eyes overcome that. For example, does the black text on white background that you read on a LCD monitor appear gray? No, because your eye/brain is most concerned with the contrast.

-Motion blur: there is still some, but the 120Hz motionflow eliminates that and works pretty well for most sources. Set on HIGH some scenes does look somewhat artificial. The unexpected effect of 120Hz is that images look very "life-like" or "3D", I think because the images are refreshed at 120 instead of 60 (although some claim this panel is always 120Hz regardless of Motionflow setting).

-Power/burn-in: Currently, LCD's still consume less power, not prone to burn-in's. New plasmas less prone but would you experiment?

So, this is why we went with the Sony and so far no regrets despite the the dent in the wallet.

We continue to be amazed by this tv. The clarity and brightness is beyond belief. It is everything advertised and more. It must be seen to believe.

I returned Samsung FPT5084 because of the buzzing noise it makes and got this Sony instead. The Sony has amazing pictures especially when playing blu ray movies. TV setup is easy and works perfectly with 1080p, 1080i or 720p signals. There is a white flashing line on the top sometimes when I get 480i analog signals, but that's not a problem since I watching almost all digital channels.
The reasons I didn't give it a 5 star are:
1. Price: very expensive.
2. No swivel base.
3. No USB or SD card input.

The comparable much cheaper Samsung has all three, but Samsung picture is not quite as good.

Read More Flat Panel Tv Reviews
