| For people looking to step up to full 1080p resolution in a 52-inch flat-panel LCD, Samsung's 2007 model LNT5265F is a good choice. Besides opffering full 1080p resolution the LNT5265F also features a 15,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio for rich blacks and subltle tecture display, an 8ms response time panel for smooth motion, hidden side speakers, an NTSC tuner, and 3 HDMI ports. The Samsung Digital Natural Image engine (DNIe) Video Enhancer refines all analog NTSC and wideband video inputs for an overall improvement in picture quality. DNIe improves contrast, white level, picture detail and incorporates digital noise reduction to improve lower quality video inputs. The 3D Y/C digital comb filter constantly analyzes the three dimensions of picture height, picture width, and picture changes-over-time to dramatically reduce edge image artifacts while improving transition detail. High-quality virtual surround sound can be experienced with just the speakers built into the TV. SRS TruSurround XT technology delivers an amazing, simulated 3D effect with clear dialog and powerful bass through hidden side speakers. TruSurround XT audio adds three audio enhancement technologies to produce an amazingly immersive sound experience.

| I've owned this tv almost a month and so far, it's been a pleasure watching. Plenty of HDMI connections, great picture, and not nearly as heavy as I thought.
The only thing I would recommmend to someone buying it is invest in a Blueray or Hi-Def DVD player if you like watching movies. I got a playstation3 because it plays blueray disc's and it's a game console for the same price of the cheapest Bluray disc players out there. It will play your old dvd's as well and produce the best picture you can get from them like an upconverting DVD player. Keep in mind not all regular DVD's are the same quality and widescreen versions get the most out of the LCD shape. I purchased my Samsung LNT-5265F from Amazon and received it 5 days later via Eagle "White Glove" delivery. Prices fluctuate, but it was over $300 cheaper than its nearest Sony competitor in size and class. Amazon pricing killed the big box electronics stores by several hundred dollars and saved me sales tax as well. Sorry State of California! I think the best way to sum up the quality of the picture on the TV is this: It's only as good as the signal it's fed. Standard Analog TV via Comcast cable looks anywhere from bad to fair depending on the quality of the signal. The digital standard broadcasts look good for standard definition. The HD channels look great. Some of the better ones, like HD Theater (HDT), look stunning. The morale of the story is, get the best signal you can to this TV. The large 52" screen will only magnify a poor signal. The TV has many picture and other adjustments you can make through the onscreen menus. This is both a positive and a negative. I found because there are so many things to tinker with, it's hard to get the picture looking exactly the way you want it. The manual is little help. It tells you how to make the adjustments, but not really what they are or how they effect the picture. Do you know what Gamma will do? How about Green Offset? Dnie? There are many more like that. It took me 3 nights to finally set it the way I like, through trial and error, but I had to reset it to factory picture settings twice because I got so far off course I couldn't remember everything I'd changed. The design of the TV is quite elegant. It's a glossy piano black finish, with a subdued blue accent light under the screen. The screen itself has a glossy finish and will show reflections, but it is also quite bright so will mask those reflections unless you've got a light or sunny window reflecting directly into the TV from your point of view. It has lots of inputs including 3 HDMI ports, VGA port for your computer, and the other normal ones you'd expect. It also has a USB port that you can plug a USB Flash drive in and display jpeg photos and play mp3 music. The USB port can be used to update the TV's firmware, although I haven't bothered with that yet until I see a need. The built-in speakers sound fine to me. I'm not much of an audiophile, but I have heard nothing that bothered me. Audio snobs will undoubtedly want some expensive add on sound system that adds to their remote collection. The Eagle White Glove delivery service did a great job. The driver delivered it 5 days after I ordered, unboxed it, stripped off the protective plastics, plugged it in and had me plug in my cable source, made sure it activated and that there were no obvious defects. He also spent another 5 minutes or so going over some of the features of the TV and how to clean it with the cloth that was supplied. He also offered to remove all the packing material, but I kept it just to be safe. Overall, I am very pleased by the TV, Amazon, and the Eagle Delivery service. I definitely would buy another Samsung TV, and buy from Amazon again. Can't wait to upgrade to a Blu-Ray player to see what this TV can really do! Intro: In short, this is great tv. You already know that it has 3 HDMI inputs and 1080P! Is it worth it to go for 120Hz technology right now? Not for me. Those have issues as well. It is particularly immersive while watching Blu-Rays and HD sources, with the right settings, and lighting. However, it looks terrible at an angle and does have some issues with glare. I would try to wait to watch that blockbuster movie until later in the day or night when it's darker. PS3 games are awesome as well. 480P sources like DVDs or the Wii show more flaws but are still nice looking. Not as sharp though. Upconverted DVDs look very good. SD sources are OK, but that's not why you're considering this TV, is it? PIP options are also limited but again, you're probably not considering this set to watch 26 inches or less on it. Chapter 1: I was lucky to get a good deal before the holidays. Eagle/Ceva came several days early but with only 1 delivery man, who needed my help to get it out of the box. He connected the TV. When it wouldn't power on, the driver told me "You Have to Plug these TVs directly into the wall, not in the surge protector/power strip!". Ha. I told him he was wrong and to check the power cable. Sure enough, he hadn't pushed it in far enough. Then it worked. Unfortunately the first one devleloped dead pixels which evolved into several lines but OK, amazon replaced it. Chapter 2: With some inconsistent communications with amazon via phone and email, they arranged for a replacement although it was out of stock at the time. Thankfully, it became available again very soon after processing the order and it shipped promptly. Eagle/Ceva said I needed 2 guys this time, which was in the "instructions" so I needed to wait another day for a "2 man team". When they delivered the replacmenent, I was stunned that they would not take back the original like they were supposed to. They did not have the right paperwork to do so. Then, they missed the next appointment to pick it up the next day. They worked with me to send someone over later that day provided that I be there to help because it was again going to be only 1 guy. So I raced home, and of course they came much later. I helped the driver get the box out of my house and onto his truck. White glove service. End of saga! Conclusion: Now the replacement TV is beautiful. There is a ton of info at avs forum about the tv as others have pointed out. Make it your business to go there and read from time to time, especially to help you get started. We are thoroughly enjoying this set! Despite my story above with the replacement/return process, I would definitely recommend buying this tv from amazon. |
