| Offering an unparalleled sleek design in a gloss white finish, and one of the best quality 720p LCD panels available, Samsung's 2007 model LNT2354H 23-inch white flat-panel LCD HDTV is an excellent choice for a kitchen, or small bedroom TV. Compared to the previous year's model this one offers an updated cosmetic design, a better contrast ratio at 5000:1, hidden speakers, side A/V inputs, and 2 HDMI connections. The Samsung Digital Natural Image engine (DNIe) Video Enhancer refines all analog NTSC and wideband video inputs for an overall improvement in picture quality. DNIe improves contrast, white level, picture detail and incorporates digital noise reduction to improve lower quality video inputs. The 3D Y/C digital comb filter constantly analyzes the three dimensions of picture height, picture width, and picture changes-over-time to dramatically reduce edge image artifacts while improving transition detail. High-quality virtual surround sound can be experienced with just the speakers built into the TV. SRS TruSurround XT technology delivers an amazing, simulated 3D effect with clear dialog and powerful bass through hidden side speakers. TruSurround XT audio adds three audio enhancement technologies to produce an amazingly immersive sound experience.

| This is a great HDTV. The specs are very impressive, and I love all the inputs on the back. The inputs were one of the best selling points for me. For a HDTV of this size, I was surpised to see the 2x HDMI, 2x Coax, 2x Component, Digital Audio Optical Out, as well as Analog Audio Out! That combined with a brand name like Samsung, a stylish design, and a great price from Amazon (over $100 bucks cheaper than at my local Best Buy!) this HDTV was a no brainer. It matches my Apple products very well and also matches my recently purchased Logitech Z-4I white 2.1 speakers perfectly.
The only cons I have about this TV are, the speakers are rather weak. They are fine for casual TV viewing, but whenever you have a few people over and things get to be a little loud, it is at times difficult to hear. This is where the beauty of the Digital Audio Optical Output and the Analog Audio Outputs come into play. You can hook this up to any kind of speakers you want giving you great sound. Unlike a lot (but not all) of Vizio HDTVs around this size, that don't have any type of Audio output. To all the reviewers who keep complaining about the boot up and shut down chime, you can turn it off in the menu system. This HDTV is packed full of features and options, I love it and think it's a great HDTV. I purchased this product after having bought a Samsung 24 inch LCD monitor for my computer. The monitor is terrific; love it; no problems after almost two months. However, the LCD TV is a totally different ballgame. Out of the box the picture quality was terrible. The color was completely off and the image was extremely blurry. I fiddled with the thing for a week and finally returned it, totally disgusted. I never could get the color adjusted properly, and I tried ALL the controls, even the advanced ones, went back to default many times and started over (which got it back to the way it was when I first set it up). If I got one channel to the point where the color was tolerable, the rest of the channels were unchanged or worse. And the blurry image was just as bad. Even when I increased the sharpness control to 100% it was still blurry. My 25+ year old Sampo CRT TV was sharper and had perfect color and I switched back to that and sent the Samsung one back. I then bought a Toshiba CRT 23 inch TV and it worked perfectly out of the box - perfect color (I'm an artist and I do know color) and the picture was crystal clear, no blurry images at all. Samsung should stick to computer monitors if this is an example of their LCD TVs! (Or maybe I got really lucky with their computer monitor?!) Okay, I admit that this buy was motivated by my desire to have a kitchen TV to match my new all white appliances (the old tv was gun metal). And it looks beautiful! I uncrated it upside down, didn't realize it, didn't see the manual, but I put the stand on, plugged the cords in, put batteries in the remote, turned it on and wa-la! away it went, searched all channels, deleted the scrambled ones, I figured out how to set the time zone and time. I had it search for both air and cable channels and all the HD channels popped and come in without the benefit of rabbit ears! All this with only "basic" cable. Using the menu, I turned off the chimes and the light that is set in the bottom center of the panels. Applause and prompts to Samsung. I did not give it all stars as the viewing angle on the stand is not as wide as one would need for working in the kitchen (moving), and from the height of a tall refridgerator (sitting at the table). |
