| The Panasonic TH-50PZ700U 1080p Plasma HDTV sports an impressive 50-inch plasma screen with 1080p resolution for a wonderful viewing experience. It will feel right at home as the centerpiece of a home theater setup. An Understated Beauty
The TH-50PZ700U is 1080p, meaning it has a full 1920 x 1080 resolution, the highest HD resolution available for the clearest and sharpest picture. Because of its plasma display, the black levels are deep and the uniformity of brightness is superb. The unit has 4096 shades of gradation and has up to a 5000:1 contrast ratio. Video noise reduction circuitry and a digital comb filter make sure the picture on screen is always optimal. The TH-50PZ700U will upconvert any signal you feed it and display it at 1080p. Connections TV as an Art Gallery One-Touch Convenience The TH-50PZ700U is backed by a 1-year limited warranty for parts and labor. What's in the Box | ||
| Consumer reports rated this TV as the best picture they had seen in any flat panel TV, LCD or plasma. The picture is quite stunning. I have heard of some color issues, but have seen none myself. The anti-glare coating works very well. We are in an apartment with indirect afternoon light, but some strong sun reflections off the windows across the street. Even at extreme angles, the picture is very clear. In fact, the reflection off the TV frame is much greater than anything on the screen. (I really have to look hard to notice it is there in the picture.) When reviewing this TV in the stores, the screen image seemed to be not as bright as many around it, especially the Samsung units. However, even in bright light, the picture is very clear and we certainly don't feel as the picture brightness is lacking at all. Another example of comparison in the store vs. use in the home! Would highly recommend this TV to anyone looking for a quality set. This HDTV is for those who know what to expect from the best in class. This is an expensive TV, but delivers perfection. Before buying this TV, I had 27" CRT SONY. Before deciding to buy this I did a lot of research on the web & CNET about HDTVs and here is my evaluation. There are plenty of HDTVs in the market, the most preferred ones for those looking for the ultimate quality, products from SONY, Philips, Samsung, Panasonic and other manufacturers. Unless you are considering buying an LCD HDTV, I strongly recommend buying Panasonic brand. Ofcourse, you will probably get a better pricing from Samsung but in my opinion Samsung delivers slight imperfections to the human eye. Samsung picture is 'contrast' rich, meaning that the color delivery is not natural. I tested many Samsung TVs in various stores - Walmart, Sears, Best Buy etc. I also looked at SONY HDTVs - I agree SONY picture quality is probably the ultimate, but SONY is more expensive than Panasonic. Why go with Panasonic 50"? - If your living room is 15' long, and you expect to see picture 12' or more far away - Price is not a factor for you to spare - This TV delivers the best with HDMI cable, even standard definition channels are very clear - This TV supports all known input modes (HDMI, Component Video, S-Video, Regular Video, PC - Supports 480i, 720i, 1080i, 1080p - Natural color delivery - Supports progressive scan DVD - The black frame for the TV looks really impressive - Supports Video Noise Reduciton - Supports Mosquito Noise Reduction - Surround sound audio for HD channels (I already had 5.1 system) Minor drawbacks: - Only 2 HDMI inputs, Samsung etc. offer 3 HDMI I bought from Amazon after checking prices everywhere. Got the best offer. The delivery people do not install the TV, but I got hold of a handy man (too heavy for one person to lift and handle) and got it installed for $50! After months of debating I finally took the plunge. I purchased this 50 inch plasma as a Christmas gift for my family. I am so happy I did! The picture, sound and overall experience has been amazing. We absolutely love the tv in all ways. I don't know a lot about technical aspects, I just know that I want a tv that has a great picture and sounds good. The salesperson at Circuit City helped me pick it out. Make sure you have the right cables. I needed two for the tv and then another one to properly hook up the home theatre system(dvd, cd player). I bought a Sony sound system It took a lot of time to pick out the right one, get the home theatre system, find a storage unit and pick out the mounting brackets and cable. It was well worth the effort. I know we will enjoy this TV for a long time. I would recommend buying the extended warranty for this product. I bought a 2 year one for about $250 at Circuit City. I also had it professionally installed. With two men working on it, it took almost 3 1/2 hours to install, program and get everything tested properly. I would recommend this product in every way. | ||
